Lately I’ve been having issues with old men. I know we’re supposed to respect them for the supposed wisdom that they have. Bro, lately I’ve been having issues with old men. I know we’re supposed to respect them for their past achievements, but lately…
Too keep myself sane in this information age that we live in, I like to operate on this thing called evidence. If I can’t operate on evidence 99% of the time I won’t say anything about it in public. If I do it’s probably a mistake and not intentionally misleading. Usually, I take some facts and tell you what I think of them, I give an analysis.
I’ve talked enough about myself, let’s talk a bit about Seymour Hersh. The Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and his viral Substack post “How America Took Out The Nord Stream Pipeline”. Hersh was the journalist that broke the story on the infamous My Lai Massacre in 1968. This guy did an amazing thing for the world by bringing attention to war criminals. In that story he wrote:
“William L Calley Jr., 26 years old, is a mild-mannered, boyish-looking Vietnam combat veteran with the nickname “Rusty”. The Army is completing an investigation of charges that he deliberately murdered at least 109 Vietnamese civilians in a search-and-destroy mission in March 1968 in a Viet Cong stronghold known as “Pinkville”.
Calley has formally been charged with six specifications of mass murder. Each specification cites a number of dead, adding up to the 109 total”.
Wow, in that story Hersh had specific names, charges, numbers and codenames. From there he told the story and made his case. When I saw Hersh drop the story on the Russian Pipelines I was like “woah”. This is crazy, I immediately clicked on the article and started reading. It kicked off with him talking about a military dive school. I’ve been in the military and been to schools, I really could care less about these things. So, I started skimming through the article looking for evidence and how he figured out the US did it. Very quickly I found his source!
Anonymous, that was his source!? I was highly disappointed, he should of just said he made it up at that point. What are we supposed to do with this exactly? Why even release this if he couldn’t provide any evidence?
Still, without evidence social media went crazy. How could Biden have done this? People made whole videos on how this could be World War 3. Hersh then went on a press run talking about the story with his “anonymous source”. Which is basically one step from “I made it up”.
My man Hersh even got pressed on Chinese propaganda TV on his vetting process for “sources” and he just weaseled around the question. It was a sight to see boy… Even Chinese propaganda TV is pressing you? Take a look at this at around 18:58
Well, Could It Be True?
Sure, anything could be true, from Sasquatch to flat earth. But stories are pretty useless if you don’t have proper evidence. True or not you have no choice but to throw it in the same “Ok bro” bin along with stories from drunk guys at the bar.
Why Release It ?
To be honest it was kind of brilliant and the timing was perfect. Maybe intentionally and maybe unintentionally, probably both. Substack is a fairly new platform for writers, it makes it easy for people to pay you for your writing. This story was Hersh’s first Substack post, it won him thousands of paid subscribers and gave his long lost career a kick start overnight.
The timing was perfect because blowing up the Nordstream pipeline was a covert action probably by a state actor. So most likely it was done by professionals. If that’s the case, any investigation will most likely lead to dead ends by design.
We’ll probably never actually know who did it unless someone with evidence comes out and confesses. This void was always going to be filled with conspiracies. But Seymour is smart, Seymour was the first to fill the void and it payed off.
Well played.
The Price Of Tea In China
Lately I’ve been having lots of issues with old men. Old men riding on their past achievements and turning in bullshit work. They’re all over the Geopolitical analyst space and I’m tired of them. They’re constantly wrong but get a pass because they did something 40 years ago. Yeah? well WTF have they been doing the last 40 years after that?
I’m of the mindset of “what have you done for me lately”. I don’t care for past achievements, that’s why you don’t even know who I am. Work is supposed to stand on it’s own and speak for itself EVERY, SINGLE, TIME.
“But Seymour Hersh broke the My Lai Massacre and won a Pulitzer Prize”
WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THE PRICE OF TEA IN CHINA?
It shall be known as the Great Proxy Wars , until it isn't
There was the investigation done by the Danes I believe that they did not release for "national security". That probably means it was not Russia because they would have said it was them. If he was making it up its a logical guess it was the U.S. right?
