Operational Security or OPSEC one of the things that differentiates a sophisticated actor from a clown (or somebody’s lunch). If you got OPSEC you’re a “highly capable military”, without it you’re a joker with a gun. If you got OPSEC you’re a “hacker”, without it you’re in jail. I couldn’t find the right format for this guide so it’s not well organized, bear with me as I lay it down.
Ok… Why Should This Be Important To Me?
I’ve been using OPSEC since I was a kid. Where I’m from it’s highly necessary to operate in a lowkey way. Your own family members would set you up to get robbed, kidnaped or killed and probably all of the above if you’re unlucky. That environment forces you to operate in a different way, you learn very quickly as a kid that information is a weapon that can be used against you.
Even in first world countries like the United States bad OPSEC can be used against you. Take for example Pop Smoke, a talented rapper that got killed while visiting Los Angeles. He mistakenly revealed the house he was staying in on Instagram and he paid the price with his life.
