I personally agree with you, I don't like the take that things are irreversible and firmly believe that change could happen and a brighter future could happen if people stop feeding the cycle for the sake of money. My vision for Grapplers Graveyard is to open gyms and help people with this issue. I know before doing BJJ my life was a mess. If all it takes is one crazy man to go on a rampage to change the world for the better and create a whole new trend, why not me
People are like animals in one way at least. They desire incentives to do something that they do not prefer. They prefer to overeat and not to exercise. The incentive must be strong enough to overcome the natural desire. The trend appears to me unlikely to change in the short term because I see no change in the incentive structures built into society. That is, unless (or more likely until) people become poor and energy becomes expensive. Only then will you see obesity to decline and even then only begrudingly because people get locked into their ways...
Example: you can't get people to change their behavior in a way that would reduce obesity even when confronted with mobility issues, health decline, mortality, etc. You can't get it done with gastric bypass surgery. You can't get it done with semaglutides. Yes, people lose weight initially, but the longer term trend is to gain all the weight back. People overeat despite their gastric bypass and insurance will only cover semaglutides at $1k per month for so long. Once that's over, it's back to their original weight. To keep the weight off, they needed a change in behavior (diet and exercise), but this typically doesn't last.
So, bottom line, don't count on a correction to the degeneracy until acted upon by an outside force.
I appreciate how you framed the question and definition. Only thing I disagree w is that people working in adult industries can be well adjusted humans, not necessarily degenerate. But based on the framing (what does society consider degen) correct to include here, I think.

Yessir, everyone has to do their part

I asked myself the same thing recently, the best drug I could find quickly was a survey https://monitoringthefuture.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/mtfpanel2023.pdf (pretty graphs page 70) self-reported isn't ideal but around since 1975
Also agree its reversible, unsure how likely that is tho
Yeah the adult thing is just perception... You can be a porn star and have tremendous control, It's not mutually exclusive.
