The situation in the middle east is providing the US with a unique challenge. Opposition actor’s like Iran have noticed the American people’s unwillingness to get tangled in another war and they’re forcing the US to make a big decision.

At the pace Israel is going it seems like they could finish the bulk of the fighting by the end of this year. They’re wrapping up in Khan Yunis and the next and last major city for them is going to be Rafah. Once they finish up Rafah, it’s just some mopping up that remains for them. If they continue at this pace we’re probably looking at an end to this war by the end of this year or early next. Israel is also under pressure from the US and around the world to slow down their war. Israel also has an ongoing case in the International Court of Justice but the US decided to testify on their behalf. Either way, this ICJ stuff is mostly a PR battle. Israel has a pretty strong military, even if you find them guilty what are you going to do? Is the UN going to send Hezbollah to arrest them? South African Marines? Like I always say, might doesn’t make right but it does set the status quo.
