On July 26 the military and some government officials in Niger formed a group called the CNSP (Council for the safeguarding of the homeland). They removed the sitting president Mohamed Bazoum from power and detained him and his family. Now ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) a huge African economic union consisting of 15 countries demand’s president Bazoum be reinstated or they’ll come do it themselves.
