Hey, it’s that time where we talk about things people don’t really care about again. I’ve been busy writing about Haiti so some situations slipped through the cracks. Don’t worry I didn’t forget, we’ll take some time in this article and go through some of them.
From Khorasan With Love
We all heard about the terrorist attack in the sold out Crocus City Hall venue in Moscow. The death toll last I saw was 150 with 182 wounded and at least 95 missing. ISIS–K claimed responsibility and released some horrific bodycam footage of the perpetrators committing the act (not for the faint hearted). The “K” in ISIS-K means Khorasan Province, it’s a historical region comprised of Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. ISIS-K is an offshoot of the original ISIS, these guys have beef with everyone including the Taliban. Yes, this is the same group that did the Kabul airport attack when the US was withdrawing from Afghanistan.
The US warned Russia about an upcoming attack and allegedly gave the intelligence to the Kremlin. Some of you might think this is strange but the US intelligence community has a duty to warn directive and it states:
An IC element that collects or acquires credible and specific information indicating an impending threat of intentional killing, serious bodily injury, or kidnapping directed at a person or group of people (hereafter referred to as intended victim) shall have a duty to warn the intended victim or those responsible for protecting the intended victim, as appropriate. This includes threats where the target is an institution, place of business, structure, or location. The term intended victim includes both U.S. persons, as defined in EO 12333, Section 3.S(k), and non-U.S. persons.
